Steak and Shrimp Stir Fry

For the Steak and Shrimp:

  • 1/2 pound (225g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/2 pound (225g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

For the Vegetables (Feel free to choose your favorites):

  • 1 bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 cup snap peas or snow peas
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (dissolved in 1 tablespoon water for the slurry)
