CRISPY FRIED MUSHROOMS RECIPE

1. Prepare the Dredging Stations:

  • Flour Mixture: In a shallow dish, mix the flour with salt and pepper.
  • Egg Wash: In a second shallow dish, beat the eggs with a fork or whisk until smooth.
  • Breadcrumb Mixture: In a third shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a bit of salt and pepper. Mix well.

2. Dredge the Mushrooms:

  • One at a time, coat each mushroom first in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Dip it next into the egg wash, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, coat it well in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the mushroom to ensure a good coat. Set aside on a plate.

3. Heat the Oil:

  • Fill a large skillet or a deep fryer with about 2 inches of vegetable oil. Heat the oil over medium-high heat to 375°F (190°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accuracy.

4. Fry the Mushrooms:

  • Carefully add the breaded mushrooms to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried mushrooms to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

5. Serve:

  • Optionally, while still hot, sprinkle the fried mushrooms with grated Parmesan cheese for an extra flavor boost. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing, marinara sauce, or a garlic aioli.

Tips:

  • Cleaning Mushrooms: Use a damp paper towel to gently clean the mushrooms. Avoid soaking them in water as they can absorb moisture and become soggy.
  • Panko Breadcrumbs: For an extra crispy texture, use panko breadcrumbs. They create a lighter and crunchier coating than regular breadcrumbs.
  • Consistent Oil Temperature: Maintain a consistent oil temperature for even cooking. If the temperature drops, wait for it to return to 375°F (190°C) before continuing to fry additional batches.
  • Safety: Be cautious when working with hot oil to avoid splatters. Use tools like long tongs or a slotted spoon for safe handling.

Enjoy your Crispy Fried Mushrooms as a tasty snack, appetizer, or side dish that’s sure to be a hit with mushroom lovers!
